Ingrid van Amsterdam

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Ingrid came to New Zealand in 1988 and has lived there ever since.

Ingrid has an interest in culture and humanity and loves colour and nature. She is most in her element during the organic and creative processes in everything she undertakes.

The artistic media Ingrid uses ranges anywhere from acrylics and pen to digital and video, and extends to her working with textiles in various forms.

Ingrid’s ideas come from dreams and visions inspired by energy, the universe, natural elements, the metaphysical, and self-reflection, which often results in autobiographical creations.

Ingrid describes her work as dynamic with the common thread throughout almost always relating to perspective, time and space, and the relativity thereof.

Ingrid graduated in Creative Technologies and Business Heritage, Culture and Sustainability at the Western Institute of Technology Taranaki. From time to time she puts pen to paper (and fingers to keyboard!). Her writings include poetry and other musings as well as non-fiction in various genres.
