A gap of over five years – from posting about my newly published book The Death and Birth of My Mother and I late 2019, to my latest publication Food Views from around the World in 2024 four months ago (a compilation of stories about food, consumables, culture, and gardening practices from my magazine BiograView, Perspectives from around the globe) – has now finally been bridged.

Having to stop producing my magazine in 2022 led to a time of introspection and time out from the crazy rollercoaster it had been. I went on to work with international students in tertiary education, first as accommodation and pastoral support officer; then as tutorial assistant with international highway engineering students. Both jobs I absolutely loved but lack of funding in our national education system meant that my contract could not be extended.
I am now working part time as administration officer and secretary/treasurer for a union that fights for the rights of staff in primary and early childhood education. It’s a whole new ballgame but enjoyable nonetheless and although there’s no room to grow timewise I am constantly challenged, learning new stuff on a daily basis.

But now, an opportunity has come up and it’s going to change my life (and hopefully others’ too!) in a major way. In a previous life (which seems like aeons ago) I ran my own complementary healing practice as auric magnetic energy healer.
While my focus recently has been on creating art (I know you haven’t seen much evidence on it here) and working my new job, I could not ignore this opportunity. Reading the testimonials people had sent me opened my eyes to a part of me and skills I had been in denial of for the last four years; partially due to a fracture in my forearm in 2021 (right before the launch of my magazine but staunchly still held as I could not let my guests down!); partially due to just not having the time, working around the clock most of the time; and partially because I started to think: “Who am I to think that I can help people?”
But revisiting those testimonials I realised how amazing the work is, how grateful people are, how much I love doing it, and that it would be a crying shame not to share my skills with the world. And now, a room has come available in the local natural health centre. It was an opportunity I could not ignore.
If you’re so inclined, please take the time to check out my healing page, I would be so grateful. Maybe you’d even like to gift yourself or a loved one a healing session this Valentine’s Day?

So much love,
Ingrid
