After hours revamp & ramble

,

It is 11:44pm and as so often, after my part time day job, I feel energised enough in the evening to catch up with my own projects.

Trying to ‘clean up’ my website that still felt messy in places, I decided it was in need of an overhaul so recently I spent a few hours on revamping it. I do this from time to time, and every time I think it looks perfect but sometimes when looking at it there still are some niggly bits that just don’t feel right so here’s another update that I am actually really happy with (even though I know there’s still room for improvement!).

There have been times that I wondered whether it was the right decision to include my healing on this website that initially was created just for art. But I feel justified in doing so, in that the website is named after myself and reflects who I am at this point in life, that am not just this or that, that there are so many aspects and elements in my life that have made me, and make me the person I am today.

Last night I went to an event at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre in New Plymouth where the guest speaker was Andreas Mikellis, a Greek fashion designer who resides in New Zealand and is a Senior Lecturer at the Fashion Design department at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT). I went there for inspiration, and inspired I was.

Listening to Andreas I resonated with the organic processes he seems to adopt within his work in that I feel like I am constantly reinventing myself as I get older. It’s an interesting process where my work and I grow together into something still unknown, constantly following new ideas that lead to several unfinished projects to be continued and completed at a future date. Not that that makes life easier; au contraire.

At an age where many people start to think about retirement, I wonder if I will ever grow up. I’d like to think that maybe I am halfway at this point? Thinking back about my life history, the trend seems to be that everything I do builds up and up until suddenly it all comes to some kind of climax and ‘boom!’ a sudden explosion of events occur. I am getting the feeling that at this time of the Full Moon it won’t be too far away from another one of those occasions.
